I run it in fullscreen mode, so I get totally distraction-less editing on Desktop 4. Vim is a highly configurable text editor built to enable efficient text editing. Sure, I could copy/rename iTerm2 app, or using Terminal.app or something, but MacVIM exists and works great. So, here is the list containing the best text editors that will help a developer write highly optimized code. Sometimes it's nice having VIM in a separate window on a separate dedicated desktop, and other times it's nice to run it in whatever terminal I'm working in, either locally or on a remote system (that I have deployed my dotfiles to).
